can't stop tweakin'...

Beginning with simple modifications of his effects and guitars, Douglas continually sought sounds that could not be created by available equipment. This resulted in the use of several amplifiers simultaneously, playing acoustic guitars on stands, wiring pedal boards of effects, using MIDI pedals, and an early deep interest in luthiery. The first series of super strats were created in the late '80's for his Northeast US power trio Run 21 and later became valuable studio guitars for W.A.S.P.. In the early '90's, he realized a series of turbo Les Pauls, which were likewise reborn for heavy touring use. Solving an old problem culminated in the creation of the Mutant Twin doubleneck guitars in the mid-90's, which also found their way onto stages around the globe. Most recently, the development of the GuitarCross and ASIA instruments took place in the 00's: both based upon the use of paired strings--of various types and uses--on a single playing surface. Along the way, various interesting tangents have been taken into sustain devices, onboard lighting, switching, and sound effects, as well as extreme cosmetic embellishments. At the same time, the amplifier/ effects/synth. rigs have evolved to support these unique instruments. Many of the stops along the way can be viewed in this section.
